Lucrative Jobs That Don’t Require A College Degree

There’s a misconception in our society that if you don’t have a college degree, your earning potential is forever lowered. It’s certainly true that a college degree can greatly help you to raise your earning potential. However, there are plenty of career paths that require no higher education but still allow people to earn great money. Here are some lucrative jobs that don’t require college degrees.

Many people see the job of bartender as something that people only do to make some quick cash, rather than a serious career. However, in many large cities and areas popular with tourists, bartenders can make as much as business professionals. You don’t need any sort of degree to be a bartender. All you need is to obtain your TABC license and be willing to train.

Security Guard

Many people laugh at “mall cops,” dismissing them as minimum wage-earning and unimportant. What these people don’t realize is just how much growth exists in the security industry. While you might start out at minimum wage, if you stick with a company and advance to a management position, you could end up earning a truly lucrative salary. Most security positions don’t require any sort of college degree, although they do give preference to those with military or law enforcement experience.

Entry Level Sales

You don’t have to go to business school to make money in the business world. There are many entry level sales jobs that don’t require any sort of college diploma. These jobs generally start new hires off with relatively low wages, but thanks to commission, there’s no ceiling on how much money you can eventually earn. The best salespeople aren’t the ones who learned everything they know from sitting in classrooms, but they’re rather the people who went out and gained real world experience.

A college degree is beneficial to one’s career, but that doesn’t mean that those without diplomas can’t eventually make a great salary. There are tons of opportunities for people who never went to college. As long as you’re willing to work and know which fields are lucrative, you can earn a great living without obtaining a college degree.
